The overturning of Roe v. Wade doesn't change anything.
In the beginning, abortions will decrease by around 10 to 13%, but later, with the technology we have today, any woman, even poor, will get pills on the internet to have an abortion. Something that wasn't there in 1973.
In addition, the rest will do so in neighboring States.
===========================
I have a question. Can devotees use contraceptives?
I'm going to put here some quotes from Srila Prabhupada. Please be patient.
"A husband who approaches his wife before her fertile period is considered polluted and similarly found guilty of miscarriage, as his semen, the very essence of the male procreator, has been scattered in vain."
(Vīramitrodaya-Saṁskāra Prakāśa)
The Skanda Purana explains:
"He who discharges semen in masturbation goes to hell called Reto-bhojana, where he has to subsist on semen. Then he goes to Vasakupa; a deep and narrow pit of fat where he has semen for his diet. Then he is reborn as the most despicable man."
The Bhagavata Purana (Bhagavatam) mentions a special hell (Lālābhakṣa) for those addicted to oral sex.
“He who uses contraceptive and abortion methods, by the will of God, will enter another mother, and the mother will kill him.”
(Śrīla Prabhupāda - March 25, 1976, Delhi)
"Contraceptives means killing the embryo. So that's also another sin."
(Interview with Śrīla Prabhupāda - March 30, 1975, Mayapur)
"So birth control means that the emulsification is disturbed. It doesn't create the right situation, so pregnancy doesn't happen. Or an imperfect secretion. The main point is that the two secretions create a situation where the living entity comes and rests. So it will grow. And if the situation is not favorable, the soul cannot stay. It has to go somewhere else. So, by Kṛṣṇa's order, the soul should come to take shelter there, but this man and this woman stopped it, therefore this is sinful."
(Śrīla Prabhupāda - 3 July 1976)
"Contraceptives or abortion are considered equivalent to murder."
(Śrīla Prabhupāda - Letter to Pope Paul VI - Montreal, 3 August 1968)
Now, a quote from Hrdayananda Dasa Gosvami:
"Clearly, sex only for Kṛṣṇa conscious procreation, within marriage, is the ultimate goal for those seeking self-realization and pure Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
It would be ridiculous to say that a soul will return to Godhead while actively cultivating sexual pleasure as a way of enhancing human relationships.
However, we clearly see in Prabhupada's teachings, and by common sense, that the regulative principles have an initial level and an advanced level.
The overwhelming majority of ISKCON devotees today are members of the congregation and it would be delusional to think that most of them have sex just to procreate.
It would be equally delusional to think that ISKCON will develop into a healthy spiritual society when its spiritual "preachers" are constantly calling most of its members "sinners".
End of quotes.
So my question is if devotees don't have families with 15, 20, 30 children because they don't have sex just to procreate, do they use contraceptives?
Srila Prabhupada explains that contraceptive methods (pills, intrauterine device, condoms, sterilization, vasectomy, etc) are the same as abortion.
If devotees use contraceptives, wouldn't it be hypocritical to scream against abortion when devotees as a community use contraceptive methods?
=============================
Let's look at the example of India. Yes India. Where abortion is not criminalized.
India, of Krsna devotee and Yoga practitioner Narendra Modi of the BJP (Right Party), does not penalize abortion.
The right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party, of the devotee and vegetarian Narendra Modi, does not criminalize abortion.
In addition, the Bharatiya Janata Party has a majority in Lok Sabha, the Indian parliament.
They could, with the majority, introduce restrictive abortion laws. But no, on the contrary.
Hare Krsna Narendra Modi's right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party facilitated abortion, covering not only single women but also married women.
Again, the Bharatiya Janata Party is a right-wing, conservative party that proclaims national values ... and does not criminalize abortion.
And the answer is simple. Being pro-choice doesn't mean being pro-abortion.
Or does Narendra Modi know nothing about the Law of Karma?
Of course he knows. And he does so because he knows there is no Karmic reaction for him.
==============================
Devotees have three options:
1 - have sex just to reproduce,
2 - or use contraception (that is the same of abortion) and abortion,
3 - or have families with 15, 20, 30 children.
The end.
There is so much, so much, so much hypocrisy when devotees and pro-life people talk about this topic that it's even funny.
hahahahahahaha
================================================
You can ask this question to Narendra Modi.
I will give you another example of another right-wing politician, alias, extreme right, fervent Catholic religious here in the country where I live, Portugal. He is the leader of the far-right "Chega" Party. His name is André Ventura.
In an interview he explains:
"If elected to Parliament, will you support the abortion review?
"No, I'm not going."
Why? Are you in favor of abortion?
"I'm not ethically pro-abortion. But if you ask me if I'm capable of allowing a criminal prosecution in my country against a woman who has an abortion, I'm not. Therefore, I would never ask for this review."
This case is now in the Supreme Court of India to try to end this exception and punish marital rape.
Among 185 countries, only 77 punish marital rape.
Patriarchal inheritance from old times.
Same as Catholic Church:
"The Catholic ban on the use of condoms, or any other device, for contraceptive purposes remains. One of the pope's most senior officials, Cardinal Rino Fisichella, told the press conference condoms were "intrinsically an evil"."
yes, there are different degrees of severity of sins.
some stay longer in hell and others stay a little less time.
but both, those who have abortions and those who use contraceptives will find themselves in hell.
only those who have sex to reproduce will not go to hell.
so please stop promoting contraceptives !!!
In Prabhupada's eyes "prevent" a life and "kill" a life is the same thing.
I do not speak of this or that devotee. But I speak in general. I never talk about a specific devotee.
Anyway, I think we are in agreement.
The reaction of an abortion is much heavier than the use of contraceptives. They're not on the same level.
But there is a reaction to both.
I think we are in agreement.
And in my humble speculative opinion I think devotees should not forget to mention contraceptives in their preaching, as that is how Prabhupada did it.
