Do devotees value Ecology? Of course yes. Devotees are very ecological.
The first thing a Sādhaka does when she/he gets up in the morning, and before stepping on Bhūmi, is to recite this Mantra:
samudra-vasane devī parvata-stana-maṇḍite viṣṇu-patnī namas tubhyaṃ pāda-sparśaṃ kṣamasva me
“O Mother Earth, I offer my humble obeisances unto you, who are the wife of Lord Viṣṇu and the residence of the oceans, and who are decorated with mountains. Please forgive me for stepping upon you.”
So of course devotees value Ecology. What sets devotees apart from other ecologists is that devotees take care of the Earth because it is a devotee, Bhūmi, one of our Mothers, and to utilize all the wonderful resources that Bhūmi offers so that we can perform devotional service.
Campakalata Devī Dāsī states:
“The Earth, Mother Bhūmi, is being mistreated to such a horrifying extent, I feel like it’s our duty to respect her and take care of her. She provides so much for us and is one of our seven mothers. We have to take care of her ... Devotees in particular have a responsibility to promote the mode of goodness in society, and this is a problem clearly being caused because of the absence of goodness."
Ānanda Kṛṣṇa Līlā Devī Dāsī states:
"The peace formula or verse 5.29 from Bhagavad-gītā extends to environmental protection policies that are integral to Bhakti's culture. The whole of chapter seven is a statement of Kṛṣṇa's presence in Nature: "I am the taste of water" eg, protect the springs, oceans, seas and rivers, the soils to the purity of the artesian aquifers."
