THAT'S IS HOW IT SHOULD BE !!!
"In his prakata lila, Gurudev Srila Tirtha Goswami Maharaja never accepted Vyasa-Puja on his appearance day. He would offer special puja to Srila Prabhupada (Bhaktisiddhanta) on this day.
One such incident we want to tell. A devotee, with much intensed love, came to offer a garland to Gurudev. Srila Tirtha Goswami Maharaja took it in his hand and offered to Srila Prabhupada (Bhaktisiddhanta) and then gave the offered garland to the devotee. So he would not accept.
He used to say "At least the long I am alive here I will not allow you to do that. Then gradually, you may pay less importance to my Prabhupada’s (Bhaktisiddhanta) Vyasa-puja."

"Although in arcana, worship of the guru must precede that of the Supreme Lord, Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī did not want that pictures of himself be worshiped, at least not during his manifest presence.
To a gṛhastha disciple who had written asking for permission to do so, he replied: It is better that my picture not be kept in devotees’ homes. We should always remember that the desire for honor and prestige is like pig stool. After my passing away, these may be required. If worship of such symbols is begun in my living presence, it will be my downfall."
