arakshita grihe ruddhah purushairaptakaribhih |
atmanamatmana yastu raksheyustah surakshitah ||
—“Women, confined in the house under trustworthy and obedient servants, are not (well) guarded; but those who of their own accord keep guard over themselves, are well guarded.”
